Description

Tuberculosis is an airborne infectious disease caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis.  The Mantoux TB skin test is a simple test that determines if an individual has been exposed to the bacteria and is a carrier of latent TB infection.  Latent TB infection is typically treated with medicine.  Left untreated, it can become active TB disease, which is contagious.
